 When strolling through the many options for dating sites here are some things to think about. First off find the site that works best for you, you have to decide if you want/require a dating site that is more niche related. For example, Christian dating Jewish Dating and Speed Dating etc.
Once you have found the site that suits your needs best you need to create a profile. In our oh so shallow world the most important thing is your picture. It's not that we're shallow, the picture allows you to sell yourself.
Here are some things you need to know about your picture. First off don't take it yourself unless you have a proper tri-pod, have someone take the picture for you. Secondly make sure that it's a good picture, you know how you look in a mirror on a good day make sure the picture is at least that good. The final piece that is important, take the time to edit your picture, if you don't have your own photo editing software there are tons of free photo editing tools
on the net.
Next is your profile, if you do one thing right here it's being honest. Don't lie about your height or weight. This goes both ways, you know who you are so if you have a few extra pounds say it, there are plenty of folks out there that like bigger men and women. Take the time to think about who you are. If you're a healthy eater, a clean freak and anything else you know people mention about your personality on a regular basis it's important to tell the world.
Now all you have to do is start talking with the other members on the site. Keep in mind sometimes you actually need to start the communication process but that's the great part about a dating site. If in regular life you're kind of shy now is a perfect time to be outgoing what's the worst that could happen. Well the worst thing that will happen is they won't reply, but who cares it's not like getting rejected in a bar or at the grocery store.
The great part about the internet dating world is that you get a chance to see who the person is before talking with them. When you're in a public setting like a mall or bar all you have to go buy is physical looks and maybe a first impression. With an internet dating site you get to read about their likes, dislikes and habits before you start talking. This is probably the biggest aspect of online dating.
When you first start talking with someone it's important to get some of the major issues out of the way. For example if you don't want to ever have kids you might just want to make sure the person you're talking to agrees.
